Download flanner

The desktop app is flanner with nothing else to install first: no Python, no pip. It is the same flanner the command line installs, one version for both.

1. Download

The app updates itself: it checks once a day, verifies each update against flanner's own signing key, and asks before it restarts. Each release's files are on GitHub.

The installers are not yet signed with Apple or Microsoft, so the first start takes one extra click. Windows shows a SmartScreen notice: choose More info, then Run anyway. macOS says the developer cannot be verified: open System Settings, Privacy & Security, and choose Open Anyway. On Linux, mark the AppImage executable first.

2. What you get

  • flanner in a window, the same web UI as flanner web, with a proper folder picker.
  • The command line. Every flanner command works in a new terminal.
  • Claude and Codex, connected. They reach flanner whether the window is open or not.
  • Background sync for Flanner Mesh, and a notice when an agent request, a memory suggestion or a review is waiting on you.

3. The first start

The app asks one thing: whether to connect flanner to Claude and Codex. It is ticked, and the app lists exactly what connecting changes on your computer before you continue:

  • your PATH, so terminals, Claude Code and Codex find flanner;
  • Claude Desktop's config, Claude Code's user registration and Codex's config, each only if it is installed;
  • a short note in ~/.claude/CLAUDE.md telling Claude to use flanner.

Nothing else is changed. You can set it up again from the tray icon at any time.

4. Already installed with pip?

The app notices, and asks which one to use. Choose the app's and it takes over, updating with the app. Choose yours and the app only shows its window, leaving your install exactly as it is.

5. Prefer the command line?

flanner stays on PyPI for servers, CI and anyone who would rather manage Python themselves:

uv tool install flanner

Not yet in the desktop app: Macs with Intel chips and Windows on ARM. Both work with the command line.
